Alabama supplanted Texas for the top spot in the latest AP Top 25 following the Crimson Tide’s monumental win 41-34 win against Georgia. This is Alabama’s first No. 1 ranking in the AP poll since Week 6 of the 2022 season, and it’s the first time in his career that coach Kalen DeBoer has led a team to first place in any major poll. Alabama is also the third team in the past three weeks to move to No. 1 in the AP poll.

The Bulldogs didn’t slide too far after roaring back from a 28-0 deficit but falling just short of completing the comeback on the road; like they did in the Coaches Poll, they landed at No. 5. However, Georgia’s loss did allow Tennessee, which had a bye in Week 5, to continue its climb into the top four. A pair of losses from Ole Miss — which dropped six spots to No. 12 — and Utah also created some major shifts outside of the top five.

No. 9 Missouri and No. 10 Michigan both made their returns to the top 10. No. 11 USC, which won its first Big Ten game in program history by downing Wisconsin 38-21, is knocking on the door.

Special shoutout to the Mountain West, which is well-represented with No. 21 Boise State moving up after a big win against Washington State and No. 25 UNLV making its AP poll debut amid a 4-0 start. The Rebels actually share the No. 25 spot with Texas A&M
