The Detroit Lions just made a statement in Primetime.

They took down the undefeated Seattle Seahawks and their solid defense with a 42-29 offensive masterpiece.

They knew they had to be almost perfect to get past one of the best defenses in the game in the first three weeks, and Jared Goff took that to heart.

He set an NFL record for the most completions without a miss by going 18-for-18 for 292 yards and two passing touchdowns in the win.

He also caught a seven-yard pass from WR Amon-Ra St. Brown for another touchdown.

One would assume that that kind of performance would get him a game ball, at the very least.

Dan Campbell, however, didn’t realize that he had just made history and gave the game balls to other people instead.

When asked about that decision, he hilariously admitted that he didn’t know Goff hadn’t missed a throw, claiming that he felt terrible about it (via Lions & ClutchPoints).

It happens; he clearly got caught up in the heat of the moment and wasn’t paying attention to the stats.

OC Ben Johnson, DB Kerby Joseph, and WR Jameson Williams got the game balls instead, and it was also well-deserved.

Then again, chances are that at least one of them will reach out to Goff to get him what he earned on the field.

Even if that’s not the case, the former No. 1 pick had a performance for the ages, proving that their decision to give him a very lucrative contract extension was the right one.
