Wellsboro’s Junior High Soccer team edged North Penn-Liberty 2-1 on Wednesday, October 9 to improve to 11-1 on the year.
“We had a slow start and struggled to finish our shots tonight but found a way to get the win,” said head coach Derek Stevens.
Nine minutes into the game Liam Stevens scored off a pass from James Doughtie. The Mounties later tied the game up at 1-all on a penalty kick. Then, with 10 minutes left to play in the game, Doughtie found Haylie Smith for a goal, giving Wellsboro the win.
The young Hornets out shot Liberty 14-4 on the afternoon and Braydyn Lehman recorded 2 saves.
North Penn-Liberty won the B game, 1-0.
The Hornets are back in action at Galeton on Saturday.
