Prince Harry’s reaction to casual blunder by royal aide resurfaces

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been in the centre of criticism after reports of alleged ill-treatment of staff surfaced in multiple publication.

While there has been back and forth as some ex-employees heaped praises for the Sussexes, two more former royal staff members reported how the Duke of Sussex reacted to a slipup by an aide at the Kensington Palace.

The members of the royal family are always addressed formally by their staff. In Valentine Low’s book, Courtiers, the author cites how Prince Harry’s press secretary made a blunder and began profusely apologising to King Charles’ younger son.

Ed Perkins, who was press secretary for Prince William and Prince Harry, once accidentally sent a text to Harry saying, ‘Hello mate.’

After sending the text, Perkins recalled, “I texted back saying, ‘So sorry, just called you mate. I didn’t mean to.’ [Harry] wrote back saying, ‘Please don’t worry.’”

Meanwhile, Nick Loughran revealed that he was often very casual with Prince Harry during conversation, even calling Harry by his first name. However, he was more formal with Prince William, as they were not so close.

The news comes amid the ongoing accusations of staff bullying, most targeted at Meghan, with ex-employees dubbed her as “Duchess Difficult,” “Dictator in high heels” and even “demon,” per The Hollywood Reporter and Daily Beast reports.

While Harry was termed “charming” but also an “enabler.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not personally made remarks over the claims.
