Bronny James is just weeks away from his first NBA season with the Los Angeles Lakers, which means he will have the chance to play alongside his father, LeBron.

It’ll be a historic moment, the first time a father-son duo played in the league at the same time.

But it almost didn’t happen this way.

According to Ramona Shelburne, per Bleacher Report, the Golden State Warriors “liked Bronny’s skill set” and were intrigued by him but decided to not draft him at No. 52 in June.

Instead, they chose to “respect the wishes” of LeBron and passed on Bronny.

This news proves a number of things.

Firstly, it shows how much the rest of the league respects LeBron James.

The Warriors could have nabbed Bronny and added him to their roster but they didn’t want to upset LeBron and get in the way of him playing alongside his son.

Secondly, this news reminds people that Bronny does have a lot of potential.

There have been many stories and comments about his abilities and lackluster showing in the Summer League but teams outside of the Lakers were curious about Bronny, proving that he’s more than just his father’s son.

In the end, the Warriors made the right choice because they could have upset LeBron and made an enemy of him.

Now the door is open for Bronny and his dad to play together when the new season begins.

It’s unlikely Bronny will participate in a lot in regular season Lakers games because he will probably spend more time with their G League affiliate.

But there is no doubt that two James jerseys will be on the court at least a few times in 2024-25 and that’s partly thanks to this Warriors decision.
