NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, launched a series of initiatives worth Rs 23,300 crore in the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors at Washim, Maharashtra.
Prime Minister Modi initiated several programs, including the release of the 18th installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi, amounting to roughly Rs 20,000 crore, benefiting about 9.5 crore farmers.He stressed the state government’s dedication to providing twofold advantages to its farmers.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the NaMo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana, which has offered financial support of approximately Rs 1900 crore to around 90 lakh farmers in Maharashtra. During the event, the 5th installment of this scheme, totaling about Rs 2,000 crore, was also initiated.
Moreover, PM Modi inaugurated more than 7,500 projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), with a combined value surpassing Rs 1,920 crore. These projects encompass “custom hiring centres, primary processing units, warehouses, sorting and grading units, cold storage projects, and post-harvest management projects, among others.”
Additionally, 9,200 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) with a combined turnover of around Rs 1,300 crore were launched.
PM Modi also introduced the Unified Genomic Chip for cattle and indigenous sex-sorted semen technology, which aims to increase the availability of sex-sorted semen at an affordable price for farmers, reducing the cost by approximately Rs 200 per dose. Moreover, he inaugurated five solar parks with a total capacity of 19 MW across Maharashtra under the ‘Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0’.
During the programme, the Prime Minister also honored beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, a financial assistance scheme for women implemented by the Maharashtra government.
