A second-half finish from Tyler Morton was enough to earn the visitors a 1-0 victory in the lunchtime kick-off, despite a closely fought encounter with few outstanding goalscoring chances.
The decisive moment came when United goalkeeper Dermott Mee attempted to slide a pass into midfield from the penalty area, only to see his ball intercepted by the alert Morton.
Mee reacted well to save Morton’s initial strike on goal, but the Liverpool midfielder showed considerable composure to pause, shift the ball to his left foot and loft the ball through a thicket of defenders and into the vacant net.
