EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 2 Northwestern unleashed its most potent offensive performance of the season, scoring a season-high seven goals in a commanding 7-2 victory over No. 17 Penn State. The Wildcats controlled the game from the start, finding the back of the net twice within a minute on two separate occasions, marking their continued dominance in Big Ten play.

The Wildcats set the tone early in the first half, with two quick goals in the opening quarter that left the Nittany Lions on their heels. The scoring barrage was highlighted by standout performances from Ashley Sessa and Lauren Wadas. Sessa extended her stellar season totals to 12 goals and 7 assists, while Wadas netted her fourth goal of the year, further fueling Northwestern’s offense.

Penn State struggled to find a response, managing two goals from the Nation’s leading goal-scorer Phia Gladieux, as Northwestern’s defense held firm, allowing the Wildcats to control possession for the majority of the match. The Wildcats’ offensive depth was on full display, with multiple players contributing to the scoreline and keeping relentless pressure on the Nittany Lions.
With this victory, Northwestern improves to an undefeated record in the Big Ten and continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season. The Wildcats are back in action next Sunday, October 13th against Harvard.
