WESTFIELD — The City Council held a brief, 12-minute meeting on Oct. 3, with a short but vital agenda, including immediate approval of the order of the call of the state election on Nov. 5, and approval for a new fire engine.
Councilor William Onyski said it was necessary to suspend the rules and take the first and second reading of the order of election at the meeting. “This is so we can have an election,” he said, before the unanimous vote.
Councilor Bridget Matthews-Kane, reporting from the Finance Committee, requested approval of a transfer of $600,000 from the ambulance fund to the ambulance equipment vehicle account to purchase a new apparatus to replace Engine 5.
