Several Indian Bollywood actresses have taken the path of adoption, setting an example for many. Adoption, once stigmatized, has gained more acceptance in recent years, partly due to these B-town divas who have embraced it. These celebrities have paved the way for others to consider adoption as a viable parenting option, highlighting the numerous steps involved in the process, only to be mothers!

Sunny Leone

Among those leading the way for adopting children is Sunny Leone, who, along with her husband Daniel Weber, adopted a 21-month-old girl named Nisha in July 2017.Leone has expressed immense joy in adopting Nisha, calling her “the best gift I could ask for. She is so beautiful and amazing!”

Sushmita Sen

Sushmita Sen had already made headlines earlier for her adoption choices. In 2000, at the age of 25, she adopted a girl named Renee, and a decade later, she adopted another girl, Alisah. Before Sushmita was able to finally bring her daughter Renee home, she had to undergo a protracted legal battle. Renee and Alisah are now seen as the embodiment of typical Indian celebrity children, and their mother-daughter closeness and love are evident in many of their Instagram posts.

Preity Zinta

Preity Zinta adopted 34 orphaned girls from the Mother Miracle School in Hrishikesh. She is committed to ensuring their well-being, providing for their food, clothing, and education, and visiting them regularly. Zinta said in an interview, “It’s an amazing feeling to be part of their lives. They are my children, my responsibility now.”

Raveena Tandon

Few people know that Raveena chose to follow the “adoption way” before Sushmita. In 1995, when Raveena was twenty-one years old, she decided to adopt two children, Chhaya and Pooja. This occurred long before she wed Anil Thadani. Now that both of her girls have grown up, Raveena is a mother for the second time, having raised her son Ranbir and daughter Rasha with her husband Anil Thadani.

Shobhana

Shobhana, a Malayalam actress, adopted a six-month-old baby girl named Anantha Narayani. Samir Soni and Neelam Kothari adopted their daughter Ahana in 2013 after marrying in 2011. For the child’s “choroonu,” the actress was pictured in the Guruvayoor Shri Krishna temple. Keralans celebrate the occasion known as “choroonu,” when a baby is fed its first solid meal.

Neelam Kothari

After getting married in 2011, Sameer Soni and Neelam Kothari adopted their daughter Ahana the following year. The couple had always desired a girl child, either biological or adoptive, since Sameer’s family was predominately male. They decided to bring Ahana home the moment they laid eyes on her because of her stunning smile!
Adoption provides an opportunity for many to experience the joy of raising children, regardless of biological ties.
