City Have Plan To Keep Guardiola At The Etihad Beyond This Season – Report

Manchester City could offer Pep Guardiola a rolling contract to persuade him to stay at the club beyond the end of the season, according to TBR Football.

The deal would roll on year on year without any set end date but it would give the Spaniard the freedom to go as and when he wants to.

Guardiola’s current contract is set to expire at the end of June next year, and there have been reports suggesting that he will leave the Etihad when his agreement expires.

However, TBR claim that the 53-year-old has not decided anything yet, and he remains “happy” in Manchester.

It remains to be seen, though, whether Guardiola is keen on an open-ended contract or whether he does want to end his tenure in 2025.

What has Guardiola said about his future?

The City head coach was pretty short with reporters when asked about his contract situation in the build-up to the 3-2 win over Fulham last week.

Guardiola made it clear that he was “not going to talk” about the subject at the press conference, which suggests he is keen to keep his cards close to his chest.

Guardiola’s time at City summed up in statistics

Since his arrival at the Etihad in the summer of 2016, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has won six Premier League titles, a Champions League, four Carabao Cups, two FA Cups, three Community Shields, one UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Winning four top division titles in a row between 2021 and 2024 has never been done befire in English football history, while their League/FA Cup/Champions League treble in 2023 was only the second time such a feat had been achieved.

Guardiola has the best win ratio of any manager in Premier League history, having won 73.9%, which is more than Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United (65.2%), Antonio Conte at Chelsea (62.9%), Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool (62.6%) and Arsene Wenger at Arsenal (57.6%).
