Steve Kerr Reveals His Thoughts On Jonathan Kuminga This Season

The Golden State Warriors’ dynasty, according to most people, is over, but the team is hoping to return to some sort of legitimate competitiveness after missing the playoffs last season.

It lost Klay Thompson, one of the main pillars of its dynasty, during the offseason, but it still has some viable younger players who can give it a shot at returning to the playoffs this season.

One of those players is forward Jonathan Kumings, who broke out last season, and head coach Steve Kerr says he has more confidence in Kuminga this time around, per 95.7 The Game.

“I have more confidence in him and his ability to grow and impact the game.”

Kuminga was the No. 7 pick in the 2021 draft, and he was somewhat disappointing in his first two seasons in the NBA.

Some speculated that perhaps he lacked the desire and dedication to achieve his potential at the next level.

But last season, he emerged as a stud by averaging 16.1 points a game, and as the season wore on, he started to become a regular starter for Kerr.

Last season was very much a transition and adjustment year for the Warriors, as Thompson struggled with his shooting consistency and defense, and Kerr ended up having to shuffle his starting lineup more than he did in previous years.

They’re due for a bounce-back season from former All-Star Andrew Wiggins, as well as more growth from Brandin Podziemski, who had a promising rookie year last season.

This year, veteran sharpshooter Buddy Hield is essentially replacing Thompson, and Golden State is looking for him to give them the type of consistent production they used to get from Thompson.
