The Miami Heat went all the way to the NBA Finals a few seasons ago but faith in the team has eroded since then.

Even though the lineup hasn’t changed much, a lot of people no longer believe in the Heat.

According to Anthony Chiang, the NBA’s annual survey of general managers doesn’t feature the Heat in the top seven teams in the East for 2024-25.

With that being said, Bam Adebayo is tied for second place as best defensive player and Erik Spoelstra is again considered the best head coach in the league.

Last season, the Heat ended as the eighth seed in the East with a 46-36 record.

There was a hope that they could push hard through the playoffs like they did a year before and somehow reach the Finals.

But that didn’t happen last season, partly because Jimmy Butler was injured.

In the end, the Heat didn’t even make it out of the first round and now many questions linger.

They have been underdogs before and many people have repeatedly said the Heat should never be counted out.

However, things feel different with the team right now and not as many fans and analysts believe in them.

Perhaps it’s because the Eastern Conference has gotten better or maybe it’s because there have been rumors of Butler leaving the team in the future.

For whatever reason, the Heat have lost value among many and people aren’t expecting big things from them.

They have overperformed and surprised before – can they do it again?

More importantly, what happens if they don’t?
