Rutherford will next visit seventh-seeded Glen Rock in the second round on Wednesday.
Lucas Tecza also produced a goal and an assist while Alex Jimenez scored as well for Rutherford (9-3-1), which is unbeaten in the past four matches. Spencer Budinich came up with four saves.
Saddle Brook (9-6) lost its second straight match following a four-game win streak.
