NFL’s sack leader carted off field with ugly leg injury

Aidan Hutchinson was carted off the field in the third quarter of the Detroit LionsDallas Cowboys game on Sunday with a serious leg injury.

On third-and-11, the Lions defensive end sacked Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and collided with teammate Alim McNeill as he spun around on the play. Hutchinson’s leg appeared to snap above the ankle as he remained on the ground for several minutes.

The FOX broadcast did not replay the injury. You can view the play that caused Hutchinson’s injury here.

Hutchinson was eventually carted to the locker room with his leg in an air cast as players from both teams surrounded him. He was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game.

The 2022 No. 2 overall pick entered the the Week 6 matchup with 6.5 sacks — which led the league. Hutchinson added three tackles and a sack before his injury occurred.

The Lions, who were coming off their bye week, are one of the NFL’s best teams through six weeks. But losing Hutchinson for any amount of time is certainly a blow to Detroit.
