Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has clarified that Jadon Sancho has not played in the last two games due to tactical decisions.
The England international joined the Blues from Manchester United over the summer and had a brilliant start with an assist against Bournemouth.
Sancho’s performances have since dipped in all competitions and it is not surprising that he has been dropped to the bench by Maresca.
When pressed about the decision, Maresca said that it is tactical and added that Sancho has to continue working hard to prove himself.
He said: “Last two games, he didn’t play for tactical decisions. No more than that. Sancho is doing well since he arrived.
“Players can’t maintain the same level all season. He’s going to play many games, he has to continue to work hard.”
Sancho had a tough Premier League spell with United where he was out-of-favour before being offloaded on loan to Borussia Dortmund.
He is facing a similar situation under Maresca, who has made it clear that he won’t guarantee playing time to any first-team player.
