Manchester United are unlikely to appoint Ruben Amorim as their new manager before the Premier League clash against Chelsea this weekend.
Amorim has reportedly accepted terms over a long-term deal with the Red Devils after they agreed to pay the €10m release clause in his contract.
United have also compensated a package of €5m for the release of Amorim’s coaching staff, but he won’t be joining the club in the next few days.
The Portuguese has a 30-day notice period in his contract. United are prepared to pay a small fee for his release during the international break.
Hence, Amorim won’t be managing the club until the Premier League clash against Ipswich Town. The game is scheduled to be played on November 24.
United have had a dreadful start to the league season and they are currently languishing in the 14th spot with just 11 points from nine outings.
They are already seven points adrift of the Champions League places and need a win against Chelsea on Sunday to stay in the top four race.
