The Cincinnati Bengals aren’t known for their aggressive pursuit of talent during an NFL season.
Then again, with their playoff chances slipping away despite a talented offense, they know they have to take a different approach this year.
The Bengals defense hasn’t held up its end and reportedly they’re looking to improve heading toward the NFL trade deadline.
“Despite sitting at 3-5, Cincinnati has been poking around in search of a cornerback and a defensive lineman to get defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo some help,” according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
NFL Trade Deadline news:
Surprise! The Bengals are making calls to find players.
This organization has only aquired two players via trade in 52 years, but they are now shopping.https://t.co/7qXsguExdA pic.twitter.com/P2k4QCl2N6— Dianna Russini (@DMRussini) November 2, 2024
Russini adds that despite their 3-5 record and the fact that Tee Higgins is more than likely to walk away as a free agent after the season, they have no plans to trade the star wide receiver.
Quarterback Joe Burrow continues to post good numbers, and Ja’Marr Chase is cementing himself as one of the best, most reliable pass-catchers in the game.
But the Bengals have struggled to keep opposing offenses out of the end zone, giving up big play after big play and failing to close out games.
The team is talented enough to turn things around, and you always have a chance when you have one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
The rest of the season won’t be easy, as the AFC North is always one of the toughest divisions in the game.
However, the Bengals have finished strong in the past, and still have half the season to turn things around and live up to the expectations after a slow start to the campaign.
