Rick Pitino apologizes to fans who waited ‘to get into sold out Carnesecca’

Rick Pitino apologized on social media to St. John’s who had to wait “to get into sold out Carnesecca Arena” Monday night, prompting a witty response from his son.

Richard Pitino, the coach at New Mexico, posted video of a security guard loosely patting people down as they made their way into an event and said, “@realpitino working security next home game”

St. John’s routed Fordham, 92-60, in the opener Monday night behind 17 points from New Jersey guard Simeon Wilcher and a near-double-double of 16 points and 9 rebounds from Seton Hall transfer Kadary Richmond.

St. John’s next hosts Quinnipiac at Carnesecca on Saturday, the same day Fordham visits Seton Hall at Walsh Gym.

Richard PItino and New Mexico will play St. John’s Nov. 17 at Madison Square Garden.
