Two-way contracts allow a player to spend time on both the NBA and G League rosters during the season. Players on a two-way contract are eligible to be active for up to 50 of their team’s 82 regular season.
A two-time All-Big Ten First Team selection, Buie also ranks second in program history in field goals made (740), three-point field goals made (287) and assists (618).
Buie became the first player in school history to average 19.0 points and 5.0 assists per game in a season in 2023-24 and is one of just eight players in the Big Ten to post those numbers over the last 31 seasons. He led the league and ranked eighth nationally shooting 43.4% from 3-point range, going 89-for-205 from long distance. His 89 3-pointers rank as the fifth-most in a single-season in school history. He tied his career-high by hitting seven 3-pointers in a game two times against Purdue and Wisconsin. He totaled four games of six or more treys, the most by a Big Ten player and tied for third among high-major players nationally. He turned in a performance to be remembered as Northwestern defeated No. 1 for the second straight season, pouring in 31 points and dishing out nine assists without committing a turnover.
He guided the Wildcats to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments for the first time in program history, and last season scored 22 points with five steals in a first round overtime win over defending national quarterfinalist, Florida Atlantic. Over the last two seasons, Buie led Northwestern to a 44-24 overall record, the third-best mark in the Big Ten.
During the 2022-23 season, Buie was a Bob Cousy Award finalist and averaged 17.3 points and 4.5 assists per game as he led the Wildcats to a second-place finish in the Big Ten Conference standings. He ranked second in the Big Ten posting a free throw percentage of 86.9% (126-for-145) and made the most free throws in a single-season by a Wildcat since Evan Eschmeyer (208) in 1998-99. He helped the Wildcats win a program single-season record four games over ranked opponents, including a triumph over No. 1 Purdue. He pumped in a game-high 22 points and added five assists and five boards in the Wildcats NCAA Tournament First Round win over Boise State.
In the NBA 2K25 Summer League, Buie averaged 9.0 points per game, 1.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game for the Phoenix Suns. He registered a summer league-high 16 points, three assists, two rebounds and three steals vs. Oklahoma City.
