The 3-5 Dallas Cowboys are in plenty of trouble after losing three straight games, as well as losing quarterback Dak Prescott for multiple weeks due to a hamstring injury.
They made a minor move right before Tuesday’s trade deadline by moving a 2025 fourth-round draft pick to the Carolina Panthers for wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round draft pick, but he doesn’t seem to be the type of player who will make a real impact.
ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky had some harsh words for the Cowboys on NFL Live when he said the Cowboys shouldn’t have made any moves prior to the trade deadline, partly because they lack salary cap space and need to make the most of their draft picks.

This past offseason, the Cowboys didn’t make any significant moves, as they were dealing with the need to give Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and pass rusher Micah Parsons big contract extensions.
They did so with Prescott and Lamb, and they have therefore tied up tons of money between just those two men.
While Dallas, when healthy, seems to have plenty of star power, they’re very top-heavy and have plenty of roster holes.
They have had lots of trouble stopping the run, and they cannot run the football effectively themselves, and it is starting to look like they will definitely miss the playoffs this winter.
With head coach Mike McCarthy in the final year of his contract, one has to wonder what type of changes they could make this offseason.
