After winning their 8th District IV Volleyball championship last Thursday, the Wellsboro Volleyball team suffered a 3-1 defeat in the opening round of the PIAA Tournament to Holy Redeemer Tuesday night.
Both teams won their sets by no more than 5 points.
Redeemer took the opening set 25-20, then won the second 25-21 to take a 2-0 lead over the Lady Hornets before they rallied with a 25-20 victory in the third set. Wellsboro tried to force a fifth set, but ultimately fell 25-23.
Senior
Paige Logsdon had 17 kills and 3 blocks, senior Lexi Urena had 8 kills, 12 points (3 aces), 17 digs and a block, and sophomore
Blake Eckart had 5 kills. Sophomore Ellie Largey made 10 assists, junior
Taylor Main had 9 assists, 8 points (2 aces), and 8 digs, and sophomore
Madison Cruttenden made 17 digs and scored 7 points with 2 aces.
The District IV Class 2A champion Lady Hornets finish their season 18-5 overall.
