The Cincinnati Bengals may have lost another shootout to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.

But that doesn’t mean players like star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase didn’t perform well.

The Pro Bowl pass-catcher caught 11 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns in the team’s 35-34 loss on the road.

According to Pro Football Focus, Chase has put up some monster numbers against Baltimore in his career.

In his nine games against them, he has recorded 67 catches, 1,043 receiving yards, nine touchdowns, and 27 receptions of at least 15 yards (via PFF).

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow also put up some crazy numbers in Thursday night’s loss, as he threw for 428 yards and four touchdowns.

The problem is that the defense could not stop Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore offense, which is why football is a true team sport.

The offense can have a great game, but it doesn’t necessarily matter if the defense plays poorly.

That is exactly what happened on Thursday night.

Giving up close to 400 yards in total offense to the Ravens might not be what head coach Zac Taylor had in mind for his 4-6 team.

Now, the pressure is on the Bengals moving forward.

They likely cannot lose more than two games the rest of the way because there is a logjam of teams hovering around the playoff border in the AFC.

The good news for Cincinnati is that the offense can explode at any given point, and they also don’t have to play Lamar Jackson and Co. again in the regular season.
