Heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, the Washington Commanders were fortunate enough to have their decision made for them essentially with the No. 2 overall pick, as they didn’t have to decide between Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels.
The Chicago Bears did the Commanders a favor by taking the USC product with the No. 1 pick, resulting in Daniels landing in their laps at No. 2, which has turned out to be a game-changing move for the storied franchise in the nation’s capital.
Although there were some questions about whether Daniels would be durable enough to withstand the punishment that the NFL level can bring, the former LSU star has quickly become a superstar on the professional level while leading the team to a 7-2 record heading into Week 10.
Daniels has checked all the boxes for the Commanders during the first half of the 2024 campaign and seems to have this team on track to win the NFC East division title and cruise in the NFL playoffs.
Pete Prisco of CBS Sports argues that the Commanders won’t have to worry about the quarterback position for the next decade with what Daniels has brought to the table via NFL on CBS.
“The Washington Commanders have no quarterback worries for the next decade,” Prisco said. “Think about that. Never, for the next 10 years, will they have to worry about that position. It’s the greatest feeling in sports. It’s unbelievable.”

At this point, the sky is the limit for Daniels, as he has been as advertised and better during his first nine games on the NFL level, which is a promising sign for this franchise moving forward.
It’ll be interesting to see where Daniels can take this team from here on out and whether this team is a legitimate title contender in the NFC.
