Victor Wembanyama is the most important player for the San Antonio Spurs and is definitely in the running for Defensive Player of the Year this season.
But is he a well-rounded player or does he have areas of his game that need to improve?
According to Tim Bontemps, per NBACentral, one anonymous NBA scout had some tough words for Wembanyama and his offense.
“He’s absolutely awesome on defense, and not impactful at all on offense. He just looks like he’s playing without a whole lot of direction,” the scout said.

Looking at his numbers, it’s obvious that Wembanyama isn’t as powerful on offense as he is on defense.
Last season, he averaged 21.4 points per game but this season he is putting up 17.7.
And his field goal percentage has dipped a bit too, down to 41.3% after being 46.5% in 2023-24.
Meanwhile, his defense is lights-out and jaw-dropping.
He is putting up 9.6 rebound per game and is once again leading the league in blocks, with a 3.7 average.
Wembanyama is still a very young man and has plenty of time to fill out both sides of his game.
He has already shown a lot of progress after just a single year so there is a good chance he will continue to get better, especially on offense.
Perhaps he is adjusting to the few changes his team went through in the summer and is having some difficulty not being the focal point of every possession.
Fans should have faith in Wembanyama to get better because he has already shown that he can.
Yes, his defense is better than his offense, at least right now.
But Wembanyama isn’t done enhancing his skills.
