‘Cats, Adam Sweep Titles At The Clerico – Northwestern Athletics

TULSA, Okla. (October 29, 2024) – Paced by individual medalist Cameron Adam, the Northwestern University men’s golf team used an impressive final-round showing to pull away from the field en route to victory in its fall season finale at The Clerico in Tulsa, Okla.

The ‘Cats finished atop the 13-team field with a team score of 852 (284-289-279), outdistancing runner-up and event host Oral Roberts (283-281-296=860) by eight strokes for the team championship.  Northwestern’s final-round one-under-par 279 marked the top team round of the event and is the Wildcats’ third round under-par as a team this season.

Fresh off a runner-up finish at the St Andrews Links Collegiate, Adam carried momentum over to the par-70, 6,950-yard course at the Oaks Country Club.  The Edinburgh, Scotland native raced out of the gate in Monday’s opening round with a three-under-par 67 before posting back-to-back even-par 70s on the way to securing his first career collegiate victory with a three-under 207 (67-70-70).

Daniel Svärd played a major role in fueling Northwestern’s final-round charge.  Out of Jarfalla, Sweden, Svärd caught fire early on Tuesday, birdying his first three holes on the way to an 18-hole career-low tying five-under-par 65 as he ascended to third place with a one-over 211 (71-75-65).

Niall Shiels-Donegan picked up his second top-10 finish in as many outings, carding a four-over 214 (72-70-72) that included an even-par round of 70 during second-round action on Monday afternoon.

Archie Finnie, who tied for 27th, turned in his top 18-hole effort during Tuesday’s final round, handing in a two-over 72 as part of a 221 (75-74-72), while Akshay Anand shared 53rd with a 226 (74-75-77).
