Northwestern rallied back from an early deficit to upend Rutgers by a 2-1 final this past Friday at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. Nigel Prince put the ‘Cats back on level terms in the 44th minute before Akinjide Awujo levied the night’s deciding strike in the 68th minute. Playing in his native New Jersey, Rafael Ponce de León added a pair of saves in goal across the closing 20 minutes of regulation to help secure Northwestern’s first Big Ten Conference win of 2024.

Third-year head coach Neil Jones’ team owns a pair of wins over top-20 opposition this season, boasting victories over No. 12 UCLA, 4-1, and No. 12 Kentucky, 1-0.
