Céline Dion has officially dropped her powerful rendition of Edith Piaf’s Hymne à l’amour, recorded live at the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony.
The long-awaited release not only honours the legendary Piaf but also marks a triumphant return for the Queen of Power Ballads, who has been largely out of the spotlight since her 2022 diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome.
Dion’s breathtaking performance, set against the Eiffel Tower, was one of the standout moments of the ceremony, and now fans can relive that magic through the newly released single.
The release stands as a poignant tribute to one of France’s most iconic singers on the 61st anniversary of her tragic death on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
For Dione, who has deep French roots, it also marks her second single released since her diagnosis, following her 2023 single Love Again.
The 56-year-old vocal powerhouse previously expressed her joy at being able to take the stage at the historic event.
“I’m honoured to have performed tonight for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony,” she shared on Instagram, adding that she felt an immense pride in returning to one of her favourite cities.
