Christina Applegate Addresses Heated Tweets Post-Election

Christina Applegate issued an apology on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, after her passionate responses to fans who challenged her viral reaction to Donald Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

Famous for her roles in popular shows like “Dead to Me” and “Married…with Children,” the actress initially reacted by telling any Trump-supporting fans to unfollow her on the platform, making her stance clear.

However, things got a bit heated when people started to respond to Christina Applegate’s post.

“Please unfollow me if you voted against female rights. Against disability rights. Yeah that. Unfollow me because what you did is unreal,” Applegate posted on X after the election results were announced. “Don’t want followers like this. So yeah. Done. Also after today I will be shutting down this fan account that I have had for so many years because this is sick.”

One person responded to the post: “I genuinely have no idea who you are, but Harris has no one to blame for her loss but herself. You’re just whining. Get over it.”

To which Applegate fired back: “Oh I’m whining??? Really. If you don’t know who I am yet you follow me then f— off. I am disabled. Everyday of my life is hard.”

The actor became even more upset when an account on X responded to her with a sexist comment, saying: “The problem is women can’t think straight one week out of the month and that’s not good for a president and the American people know that.”

“Are you f-cking kidding me? Get on the phone now. Give me your number!!!” Applegate replied. “I will ruin you. Don’t f-ck with a disabled woman who also, you a- f-ck oxygen thief probably Trumper piece of sh-t, will have. Better life than you sitting in your mamas basement. Don’t even try me.”

Eventually, the actress stopped responding to commenters and posted an apology on X: “I apologize. I’m still reeling and sobbing. But I’m not angry anymore. Just going to go back to my bubble and watch a sh– ton of Bravo shows So peace to all. I suggest you do the same. Very soothing.”

“I swear to god I’m gonna f–k you up, get away from me,” she said, per The New York Post, during the video with more than 37,000 viewers. “I’m sick of you! Burn you’re f–king hats motherf–ker. I’m really sad. I swear to god, I’m really sad.”

The image included lyrics from Olaf’s song in the second movie, “This will all make sense when I get older,” perfectly capturing Gad’s own sense of confusion and frustration over the election outcome.

Actress Yvette Nicole Brown also spoke out, calling the election result a “disgrace.”

“Sherrod Brown losing in Ohio is a lost to Ohio and our nation. This is a disgrace at a level I can’t even quantify. My home state of Ohio chose a criminal,” she wrote on X. “And it looks like this nation is choosing a criminal. AmeriKKKa is showing out tonight. Just showing out.”

Trump is set to return to the nation’s highest office, marking a dramatic comeback four years after his loss in the 2020 election.

His path back to the White House has been tumultuous; after his defeat, Trump made high-profile attempts to overturn the election results, a move that dominated headlines and fueled division across the country. In his first term, he endured two impeachments—the only U.S. president to face this twice—on charges of abuse of power and incitement of insurrection.

In 2023, Trump was also found liable for criminal charges connected to hush money payments, making him the first U.S. president-elect with a criminal conviction on his record. He continues to face a number of other legal challenges that have added further controversy to his political career.

With his 2024 victory, Trump will become only the second president in American history to serve two nonconsecutive terms, a feat last achieved by Grover Cleveland in the 19th century.
