The ‘Anywhere Registration’ initiative aims to enhance the convenience of property registration by allowing individuals to register their properties at any sub-registrar office in Delhi.

Property owners can now book appointments online.

Delhi’s Chief Minister Atishi Marlena has approved and announced a transformative change for home buyers and property owners in the capital with the approval of a new property registration policy known as ‘Anywhere Registration.’ This initiative aims to enhance the convenience of property registration by allowing individuals to register their properties at any sub-registrar office in Delhi, regardless of the property’s location. This policy is a significant step toward streamlining the registration process, which has historically been mired in inefficiencies.

Key Features of the ‘Anywhere Registration’ Policy

Elimination of Location Constraints:

Previously, property buyers in Delhi were required to visit a specific sub-registrar office based on the location of their property. This often led to confusion and frustration, as individuals would have to navigate the bureaucratic maze to determine the appropriate office. With the new policy, this constraint is lifted, allowing homeowners to choose any of the 22 sub-registrar offices across the city for their registration needs.

Online Appointment Booking:

To further simplify the process, property owners can now book appointments online. This feature not only saves time but also helps manage foot traffic in the offices, reducing the long queues that have been a hallmark of the previous system

Reducing Wait Times and Corruption:

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) acknowledged that the old registration process was fraught with challenges, including long waiting times and delays in securing appointments, particularly in busy sub-registrar offices. By implementing this new policy, the government aims to cut down on these delays, allowing for a smoother and quicker registration experience. Furthermore, the CMO highlighted that this policy could help curb corruption by reducing the reliance on middlemen who often exploit individuals seeking quick registration for their property.

Promoting Transparency:

With the introduction of the ‘Anywhere Registration’ policy, there is a clear intent to promote transparency in the property registration process. By allowing individuals to choose their preferred office and schedule appointments online, the policy minimises the opportunities for corrupt practices that can arise in a convoluted system.

Atishi Marlena emphasised the government’s commitment to addressing the common challenges faced by property buyers. “We are starting this policy to solve these issues,” she stated. The initiative reflects a broader commitment to improving governance and making public services more user-friendly.
