The Detroit Lions won a huge game over the Dallas Cowboys, making a big statement and reminding everybody of how good they can be when they’re at their best.
Unfortunately, that win also came at a steep price, as it cost them one of their best players.
The star DE — who was also in the running for Defensive Player of the Year — suffered one of the most gruesome injuries we’ve seen in years.

According to NFL insider Ari Meirov, the Michigan product had to stay at the hospital after the game.

He reportedly went under the knife to deal with a compound fracture, and his season is all but over.
This is a brutal blow to a Lions team with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations, not to mention the fact that Hutchinson is a rising star.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to get back on the field and back to his usual level sooner rather than later, as these injuries are tough and could take a serious toll on any person’s life.
The Lions have only lost one game thus far this season.
They’re fresh off a trip to the NFC Championship Game and were quite close to taking down the San Francisco 49ers and making it to the Super Bowl.
And while their offense steals most of the headlines — and rightly so — their defense has also been much better than it was last season, with Hutchinson having plenty to do with the major turnaround.
