A 26-year-old driver accused of drunken driving is facing criminal charges days after a crash on Routes 1 & 9 in Linden that left his two passengers dead.

Devon M. Chuccimarri was driving north shortly before 3 a.m. on Oct. 5 when he struck a tractor-trailer turning left from southbound Routes 1 & 9 to South Stiles Street, Linden police said Friday.

One passenger — Ahmad L. Campbell, of Edison — was pronounced dead at the scene. The other, Melvin M. Jones, 22, of Piscataway died of his injuries at an area hospital.

Information about the criminal charges against Chuccimarri, of Highland Park, wasn’t immediately available.
