Joe Flacco has finally taken over as the full-time starter at quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts and will have a tough task ahead of him on Sunday night when he leads his team up against the Minnesota Vikings, who are hungry after dropping two in a row after a 5-0 start to their season.

Flacco was brought in to serve as a veteran backup and mentor to Anthony Richardson, but Richardson’s inaccuracy has forced the team to make the switch to Flacco, whose contract incentives have now been brought into the conversation thanks to him winning the starting gig.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero shared on X that Flacco’s one-year contract includes $3.7 million in incentives including $100,000 for every regular season win in which he plays at least half of the team’s offensive snaps.

The same stipulation applies to playoff wins, which would net him $250,000 per win.

The contract also says that he is unable to do karate or mountain climbing, so Flacco will have to put those hobbies on hold at least until this offseason.

The season wasn’t supposed to unfold this way, but Richardson has only completed 44 percent of his passes and made plenty of headlines in last week’s loss to the Houston Texans when he took himself out of the game because he was tired.

Flacco signed with the Colts fresh off of leading the Cleveland Browns to an improbable playoff run down the stretch last season and has looked like the same gunslinger this year in his limited playing time.

Sunday night should be a fun battle, and we’ll see if Flacco can earn himself a bit of extra money with his performance.
