In Week 5, the Pittsburgh Steelers were hoping to bounce back from a disappointing loss to the Indianapolis Colts the previous week, which was one of the biggest upsets of Week 4, especially with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco taking over for the injured Anthony Ricardson.

The Steelers faced an arguably much more formidable opponent on Sunday night, taking on the visiting Dallas Cowboys at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, but the result was the same, with Mike Tomlin’s squad losing by three at the end of the game.

As a result of a second straight loss, the Steelers have fallen to 3-2 on the season, with a lot of people starting to question whether this team is the real deal after such a hot start to the season, with three straight wins against the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers.

Even though starting quarterback Justin Fields was able to throw for two touchdowns against the Cowboys, the passing game was anything but prolific on Sunday night, with wide receiver George Pickens catching only three passes on seven targets for 26 receiving yards.

On Monday, former NFL head coach Jay Gruden took a shot at Pickens for his disappearing act in Week 5 against the visiting Cowboys on his X account.

“I’m outside. I’m looking for George Pickens,” Gruden said. “Has anybody seen him? I can’t find him.”

The biggest question mark for the Steelers coming into the 2024 NFL season was whether the offense would be improved, as the team made a point of upgrading that side of the football, especially at the quarterback position, with the additions of Russell Wilson and Fields.

Although Fields has played well, for the most part, the offense is still mediocre at best, averaging 18.4 points per game, which might not cut it for a team with title-contending aspirations.
