Jelly Roll made his debut on Saturday Night Live during the premiere of its 50th season, hosted by first-time host Jean Smart.
On September 28, leading up to the season premiere, the NBC comedy sketch show shared a playful video featuring the 39-year-old singer and rapper alongside the Hacks star, setting some severe BFF goals.
“Best friends forever,” read the caption accompanying a montage of clips showcasing the duo engaged in various fun activities, looking adorable and hilarious.
The video opened with Jelly Roll applying makeup on the Golden Globe Award winner’s face, followed by a clip of her failing to toss a piece of candy into his mouth from a distance.
Additional footage showed Smart playfully pinching the Son of the Sinner vocalist’s nose before they held hands tightly and spun around on the Studio 8H stage.
Fans were thrilled to see this light-hearted side of the pair unleashing their inner kids.
“This is the best ‘Odd Couple’ I’ve ever seen. The friendship we didn’t know we needed,” one fan commented.
“This is the warmth my cold, cold heart needed. Jelly Roll + Jean 4eva,” another added, while a third chimed in, “I freaking love it! [teary laughter emoji].”
“This is the wholesome content I’m here for. [heart emoji],” a fourth fan expressed
Additionally, Smart’s Hacks co-star and daughter of SNL alum Laraine Newman, Hannah Einbinder, introduced Jelly Roll’s Liar rendition, the second single from his upcoming album, Beautifully Broken.
