Over the past few years, the Denver Nuggets have been a dominant force in the Western Conference, led by arguably the best player in the league, Nikola Jokic.

During the NBA playoffs last season, the Nuggets seemed to get somewhat exposed when facing the defensive-minded Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the postseason, as they lost in seven games to Anthony Edwards and company.

Four games into the 2024-25 NBA season, Denver has already lost two games, and the two wins were against two rebuilding teams that forced Mike Malone’s squad into overtime.

This has not been the kind of start that the Nuggets were hoping for, as they don’t seem like the same dominant force of old, with Kendrick Perkins believing this team is far from a title contender via NBA on ESPN.

“Does this Denver Nuggets team look like a championship contender? Hell no,” Perkins said.

At this point, Jokic seems not to be getting the help he needs from other players on the squad that the Nuggets usually lean on, like Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr.

If things keep trending in this direction, Denver could be one of the more active teams in the league heading toward the NBA trade deadline in February, even though it will be tough to move some of the contracts on the team while upgrading the roster.

Obviously, it is very early in the season, and a team like the Nuggets can turn things around quickly, but things aren’t looking good in Denver right now.
