Troy took control of the NTL Large School Division standings with a 3-1 win over Wellsboro on Thursday, October 17.
Both teams came into Thursday’s match with one league loss each.
Troy won the first set 25-15 for the early advantage, however the Lady Hornets rallied to win the second set 25-15 to even it up at 1-all. Troy took the next two sets, 25-18 and 25-13, to claim the match for sole ownership of 1st place in the Large School Division.
The loss ends a 5-game win streak by Wellsboro.
Sophomore Madison Cruttenden led Wellsboro with 8 points and 18 digs, junior Taylor Main scored 6 points and had 20 digs and 4 assists, and senior
Lexi Urena had 5 points (1 ace) and 4 kills. Sophomore
Ellie Largey had 11 assists and made 22 digs, sophomore Blake Eckart had 7 kills, and senior Paige Logsdon had 4 kills and 3 solo blocks.
Freshman Adelyn Frantz also recorded 4 kills.
Wellsboro won the JV game 2-0 (25-12, 25-17) to improve to 14-4 and win their 4th in a row.
The Lady Hornets (14-4, 11-2 NTL Large School Division) hosts South Williamsport on Monday for Senior Night.
