SPRINGFIELD — A man was shot three times just after midnight this morning on the edge of the downtown Springfield, according to police.

He was taken to the hospital in a private car with non-life threatening injuries, a detective said. The victim, who is around 30 years of age, reported he had been shot outside 30 Belmont Ave., but responding officers found shell casings on nearby Fort Pleasant Avenue.

Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh said the shooting remains under investigation by the Detective Bureau.
