Manchester United have entered talks with Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim to succeed Erik ten Hag, as per The Athletic.
Ten Hag was recently dismissed from the head coach position following the club’s 2-1 Premier League defeat at West Ham United.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has been placed on temporary charge at the moment, but there could be a new manager at the helm very soon.
United are ready to pay the €10m release clause in the contract of Amorim and the 39-year-old is prepared to join immediately.
He is unlikely to be in the dugout for the Carabao Cup clash against Leicester in midweek, but could be in charge against Chelsea.
United have had a dreadful start to the league campaign with 11 points from nine games and they face a huge test against the Blues.
The fans will be hoping that there is a new manager bounce. The club need to win as they are already seven points behind the top four.
