New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor’s impact on the field is apparently going beyond his individual stats.
One pitch after Lindor singled in the second inning, third baseman Mark Vientos launched an opposite-field home run to put the Mets ahead 2-0 in Game 2 of the NL Division Series with the Philadelphia Philies on Sunday.

Vientos’ blast — the Mets’ first extra-base hit of the series — came after Lindor told him something in the on-deck earlier in the game after Lindor struck out, FOX Sports replays showed.
“After Lindor struck out, he tells Vientos something. I don’t know what he said. He covered his mouth. But he told Vientos something,” Fox Sports’ A.J. Pierzynski, a former MLB catcher, said on the FOX broadcast. … “Then he went to (Brandon) Nimmo, the next guy. Was he tipping, was he doing something, did he see something off (Cristopher) Sanchez? … This is a changeup that’s just up.”
In a game of adjustments, the left-handed Sanchez has seemingly made his and settled down. Nimmo singled after Vientos’ home run, but Sanchez has retired the next five batters with three strikeouts.
