Olivia Rodrigo donates all sales from historic Manila show to group that helps women and girls

Olivia Rodrigo, who’s currently on her GUTS World Tour, capped off a memorable stop in the Philippines with another major announcement.

The 21-year-old singer, whose father is Filipino, shared on social media after her Saturday show in Manila that the profits from her ticket sales there would be donated to nonprofit Jhpiego. The global organization, an affiliate with Johns Hopkins University, helps provide health care to women and girls in the Philippines.

“It was the most special show and the most meaningful trip. to say I’m grateful doesn’t even cut it!” Rodrigo wrote in a post, before saying “I love you” in Filipino. “Mahal kita.”

Rodrigo wrote in the post that she visited the organization’s office in Manila, and was “so impressed” with the group’s work. She added that the donation would be conducted through her “fund 4 good.” The initiative, a part of her world tour, supports community-based groups that “champion girls’ education, support reproductive rights and prevent gender-based violence.” Previously, while on the U.S. leg of her tour, she partnered with the National Network of Abortion Funds and then with the Women’s Shelters Canada during her Canadian stops.

The donation is just the latest announcement from her Manila show that’s made headlines. Rodrigo, who performed to a sold-out crowd of 55,000 fans, also went viral for her major displays of Filipino love. During the performance, her first in the country, she wore a “Pinoy Pride” tank top in celebration of her heritage. She also donned a “Miss So Filipina” sash, and changed some lyrics to her song “So American” to reflect her background.

Filipino fans, of course, rightfully had no chill.

The show wasn’t just special for Filipino fans, either. Rodrigo herself expressed her gratitude for the experience.

“been dreaming of this show for a whileeeee. my first time in the Philippines and also my biggest venue ever!!!!” Rodrigo wrote on social media. “Thank you to everyone Manila for welcoming me so generously and making me feel so loved”

Last month, Rodrigo also announced markedly lower ticket prices for the Manila stop at 1,500 Philippine pesos, or around $27, including all taxes and fees. The cost for tickets for her Singapore shows earlier last week reached up to $308 Singapore dollars, or $239. Rodrigo’s team told NBC News that prices were kept lower for the Manila show so more people could attend.
