The Seattle Seahawks are engaged in a tight tug of war for control of the NFC West.

They’re tied with the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers and conceivably have a good shot at finishing first.

If Seattle is going to win the division, and therefore make the playoffs, it will have to get healthy, and that starts with wide receiver D.K. Metcalf, who missed the Week 8 loss to the Buffalo Bills dealing with a knee injury.

Despite thoughts he would be able to return to play in Week 9 against the Los Angeles Rams, there has been a discouraging update.

“Mike Macdonald said yesterday the Seahawks were optimistic that D.K. Metcalf would practice today and play Sunday vs. the Rams, but he’s listed as a non-participant again with his MCL sprain,” Brady Henderson of ESPN wrote on X.

Metcalf is Seattle’s top threat on offense and most productive skill player, with 35 catches for 568 yards and three touchdowns this season.

He has helped quarterback Geno Smith put together another impressive season and lead the NFL with 2,197 passing yards.

This game against Los Angeles will be huge for Seattle, as it will carry playoff implications.

The Seahawks then have their bye week, and after that face two more important divisional matchups, first against the 49ers on the road and then against the Cardinals at home.
