THESE signs of a heart attack can appear in young , super-fit people weeks before – Times of India

Heart attack in young people is rising at an alarming rate compared to the past few years. The trend is on the rise in the age group of 18-44, notice experts, including those who seem to be leading a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise schedule and seemingly good fitness levels.
As per several health experts, a combination of sedentary lifestyle, bad diet, and stress are among the factors that could be behind this worrying trend.
Cardiologists say heart attack signs could be felt hours, days or weeks before the event and many people may dismiss these signs as other health issues. For instance, one never thinks of neck and shoulder pain as a heart attack signs. Nausea, indigestion and other stomach discomforts are also not connected to cardiovascular issues. A shooting pain in arm or in jaw can also be early signs of heart attack. These symptoms could appear different from those of typical heart attacks signs like sudden pain, heaviness or a tight sensation in the chest, and can actually be experienced much before the actual heart attack, giving a chance for one to address it before it’s too late.A report in DailyMail highlights the lesser-known early signs of heart attack that occur in young and super-fit people, ways or weeks before it.

Sweating

If you are sweating more than the usual and experiencing shortness of breath even with no physical exertion, it could signal an impending heart attack. The symptoms can appear weeks before a heart attack, as per experts.
Waking up sweating more than usual could be a warning sign, Dr Deepak Bhatt, a cardiologist at Mount Sinai in New York, told DailyMail.

Pain in neck and shoulders

This is common in women as around half of the women do not feel the classic symptom of chest pain. According to Duke Health, a woman may feel persistent pain in the back, neck, jaw, or even shoulder blades, before or during a heart attack.

Fatigue, nausea, sweating

One may experience fatigue, sweating, and nausea, as well as indigestion before or during a heart attack that might be mistaken for acidity or heartburn. If you feel unusually and completely exhausted without physical activity, you should take note and consult your cardiologist, according to BMJ journal.

Pressure or tightness in chest

One may feel heaviness, pressure or tightness in chest, which is different from pain, and sometimes dismissed as a pulled muscle.

Shooting pain in arm

Many people may experience a shooting pain in their arm, which is too intense to tolerate. Pain in jaw can also be a sign of an impending heart attack.
As per DailyMail, heart attack in young people has witnessed a sharp rise. According to the data, roughly 0.3 percent of Americans aged 18 to 44 years had a heart attack in 2019, but last year that rose to 0.5 percent, or one in 200, which means a 66 percent increase in such cases, in the span of just four years. The data indicates that now one in five heart attack patients is younger than 40.
Experts call for the need to address risk factors like obesity, bad diet, sedentary lifestyle and keep high blood pressure, and high cholesterol in control. People who have a history of chronic diseases must be extra careful with their diet and avoid alcohol and smoking.
