Manchester United’s decision to dismiss manager Erik ten Hag could be bad news for Chelsea ahead of the Premier League meeting between the clubs.
Ten Hag was under pressure for a number of weeks and the United hierarchy eventually decided to sack him after the 2-1 loss at West ham United.
The Dutchman’s dismissal came out of the blue and the club are already working on a replacement. They have contacted Sporting’s Ruben Amorim.
The 39-year-old is prepared to take charge of the club immediately and a deal could be completed in the next 24 hours if his €10m release clause is paid.
The update could be a bad one for the Blues, who would have preferred to face United at Old Trafford on Sunday with Ten Hag in the dugout.
There is bound to be a response from United’s squad after the surprise sacking. The new manager bounce could come into effect as well.
Hence, Sunday is the worst possible time to face United in our opinion. The Red Devils will be aiming to return to winning ways against the Blues.
