Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton will join Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz for the 2025 Laver Cup in San Francisco, which will be held at the Chase Center from September 19-21 and broadcast live on discovery+. The event will feature 12 matches over three days, including nine singles and three doubles. Points are awarded progressively, with one point on day one, two on day two, and three on day three, with the first team to reach 13 points declared the winner.

Zverev, currently ranked world No. 2, will represent Team Europe alongside French Open and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz. Shelton, ranked No. 13, will join Team World alongside US Open finalist Taylor Fritz. This will be Shelton’s third appearance at the Laver Cup, following his strong performances, including reaching his second Grand Slam semifinal at the 2025 Australian Open.

Zverev, aiming for his sixth Laver Cup victory after previous wins in Prague (2017), Chicago (2018), Geneva (2019), Boston (2021), and Berlin (2024), is looking forward to the challenge in San Francisco. He also reached the Australian Open final in 2025, where he finished runner-up to Jannik Sinner.

“I love being part of the Laver Cup, playing alongside some of the best players in the world is really special,” Zverev said. “I’m also excited to play at the home of the Golden State Warriors—it will be amazing to experience the atmosphere.”

Team Europe captain Yannick Noah praised Zverev’s leadership and consistency, stating, “Sascha is one of the most fearless competitors on tour. His experience and ability to rise to the occasion will be invaluable. We know Team World will be tough, especially with the home crowd, but with Sascha and Carlos, we’re ready for the challenge.”

For Shelton, this will be his first Laver Cup in front of a home crowd, and he expressed his excitement: “Laver Cup is electric. The team format, the fans—it’s next level. I’m pumped for my third Laver Cup, especially in San Francisco. We’re motivated to bring the trophy back to Team World!”

Andre Agassi, who will lead Team USA, praised Shelton’s growth, saying, “Laver Cup brings out the best in players. Ben is an explosive talent who thrives in this team environment. He’s had a strong start to 2025, and I’m focused on building a team ready to take on Europe.”

The three highest-ranked ATP singles players from Europe and the World after Roland-Garros will automatically secure spots in the competition.
